Call to Action Day is a Notre Dame de Namur
University event that provides the students and faculty the opportunity to work
with the community. It helps students
focus and understand the Hallmarks of a Notre Dame de Namur Learning Community.
For my class, we went to Potrero Nuevo Farm in Half Moon Bay. It was a really good and cool
experience. Jay and Suzie are a couple
that take care of the farm. They keep
everything organized and alive. We picked pumpkins and butternut squash and
even though it didn’t seem like we did much, Jay and Suzie said that we saved
them a day of work if it had only been them two. Having the opportunity to go to the farm also
provided that farm as a place where we could go if we wanted to do community
work. I did not expect the Bay area to
have farms that helps provide organic food for people around them. It was an awesome experience that allowed the
school help the community around it and provide the students with an
opportunity to take time to look past the books and computers.
